Accounts Assistant – Kintbury & Woolton Hill Surgeries


To manage partnership accounts, cash, VAT, banking, payroll & reporting

Candidate should have a strong working knowledge and background in accounts - min 1 year


£10.42/hr 16 – 20 hrs flexible

Duties and Responsibilities:

Completion and submission of monthly VAT return

Sales ledger – ensure sales invoices are posted accurately and in a timely manner

Purchase ledger – monitor receipt of payments and ensure invoices are posted accurately and in a timely manner

Reconciliation of bank and cash accounts

Reconciliation of till takings

Banking of cheques and cash received

Responsibility for petty cash including maintenance of petty cash record

Monitor cash flow and report to the partners

Regularly review debtors to minimise bad debts

Liaising with suppliers in relation to invoice discrepancies

Processing employee timesheets and expense claims

Liaising with pensions and payroll outsourcing agency in relation to staff payroll queries

Assisting the practice accountants in relation to preparation of year end accounts

Accurate record keeping

Other duties as required by the Practice Manager


Experience and Profile:

Previous experience in a similar role

Previous NHS experience is desirable

Microsoft Office skills – good working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel package

Numerate and attention to detail

Experience with Xero accounting software is desirable (however training will be provided)

High level of communication skills, both written and oral
