(15/2/21 UPDATE FOR COHORT 5 – AGE 65-69 – PLEASE SEE BELOW)
Due to the nature of the covid vaccine and the need to reduce wastage, and work at scale, we have joined forces with 8 other Newbury practices including Lambourn and Hungerford to deliver our Covid Vaccination Programme from Newbury Racecourse. We realise this is not as convenient for our patients, in that there will be a need to travel, but because of the delivery logistics and the need to deliver at scale we cannot do this from the surgery at this stage.
Please do not call us, we are contacting patients to book appointments in order of priority according to the National Criteria which we are unable to deviate from.
It is not possible to give estimates of when an appointment may be offered, however we are on track to meet the government target of mid-February for all over 70s and shielded patients.
Our letter to patients and racecourse map can be found here:
Patient information about the vaccine and what to expect after your vaccination can be found here:
Mass Vaccination Centres
You may also be contacted from the national NHS database by letter, text message or telephone call inviting you to book an appointment at a mass vaccination centre such as Swindon, Basingstoke, Oxford, Marlow, Bristol or Epsom. You are welcome to book in to a mass vaccination site by following the instructions on the communication you receive. We cannot assist with the booking process nor assist with any specific questions about these sites.
If you prefer to be vaccinated at Newbury Racecourse then you do not need to do anything. We will be in contact when we have an appointment to offer.

Dear Group 5 Patient (Aged 65-69 inclusive),
**THIS INFORMATION IS FOR GROUP 5 PATIENTS ONLY. IF YOU ARE A GROUP 6 PATIENT BE ASSURED THE PRACTICE WILL BE IN CONTACT SOON WITH ADVICE ON BOOKING YOUR APPOINTMENT**
As I am sure you are aware the COVID vaccination programme is progressing well and patients in Group 5 (aged 65-69 years) are now invited to book their vaccination via one of the Mass Vaccination Sites. Many of you may have received your letter in the post over the weekend.
We would encourage you to book an appointment at one of these sites as soon as possible. If you have not yet received your letter then is it possible to book your vaccination by calling 119 or via Book a coronavirus vaccination – NHS (www.nhs.uk).
The racecourse site remains up and running however we have been informed that supplies of the vaccine will be slower to the racecourse compared to the Mass Vaccination Sites for the next couple of weeks. There are also a number of Group 1-4 patients who were not suitable for vaccination in the previous weeks who will need to be prioritised for the next deliveries. Finally the racecourse has been asked to focus on Group 6 patients whom identity is only known to their GP practice.
While it has always been our aim to vaccinate as many of our patients at the racecourse as possible, we must acknowledge we are part of national programme and getting every one vaccinated as quickly as possible must be our goal.
If you are unable to travel to one of the mass sites or only wish to be vaccinated at the racecourse please complete a submission via our website. Link Contact the Practice | Kintbury Surgery & Woolton Hill Surgery (kintburyandwooltonhillsurgeries.co.uk).
It remains impossible to give any estimates on when any individual patient can expect a vaccine at the racecourse. Please do not contact the practice with this enquiry.
